Hello! My name is Liz, and I'm a Korean student at the University of Colorado Boulder, majoring in Finance.
In 2020, the sudden Covid-19 outbreak took the world by surprise, prompting countries and cities to implement lockdown measures and educational institutions, including higher education establishments, to enforce online teaching models in order to deal with the dire situation. The sudden change has left many students and teachers overwhelmed and confused, including me.
I was in my junior year of college and was sprinting to graduate the following year. That summer, I was going to take electives on campus to fulfill my credit requirements. However, all on-campus classes were canceled due to the lockdown. Since not all courses could be quickly converted to online instruction at that time, none of the classes I preferred were available online.
I sought advice from my academic advisor, who suggested that I take the credits off-campus and transfer them back to the university once the course was completed. I then googled for online course platforms, and after a detailed comparison, I discovered online classes on LightCourse that met my needs. I took two electives via the platform that summer and transferred the credits back to CU-Boulder the following semester.
I was relieved that the pandemic didn't affect my academic plan much, and I was able to complete my degree on time in 2021 as planned. I'm currently relocating to New York in order to begin my professional career. I believe that the health crisis will come to an end and that everything will be on track soon.

Bonnie
Hi, I'm Bonnie! I'm a University of Chicago theater art student specializing in performing.
In order to get my degree, I must fulfill all of the requirements for my major and general education. As an art student, my degree includes a substantial number of acting projects and skill-development courses, which means I must spend a significant amount of time on stage and in various workshops.
For instance, we are putting on a show for the public this semester, which we have to rehearse over and over to ensure that the play can be performed successfully. Due to my hectic schedule, I frequently find myself unable to devote enough time to mandatory general education classes like math and English, among others.
According to a senior who is also in my major, many of them had to postpone their graduation because they hadn't had enough time to finish their degree. To avoid this from happening to me, I had to find a way to balance my time spent on both aspects.
I then discovered that LightCourse might be able to assist me, so I consulted the LightCourse advisor to see if there were any online classes without time constraints that could satisfy my requirements. My advisor helped me find the appropriate courses that I could take without affecting my rehearsals.
Now I'm taking math and writing classes online, and when I'm done, these credits can be transferred back to my school, which is pretty cool, right?

Leo
Hey guys, it's Leo from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia! I am currently a freshman at the University of Minnesota majoring in Computer Science.
It is costly to study in the United States. Despite having a scholarship for international students, it is insufficient to cover the entirety of my tuition, which is $16,061.00 every semester.
My family is a typical Malaysian working household and they can't afford all of my bills for four years. So my parents told me they could only support me with the rest of the tuition and housing but not with the remainder of my study abroad expenses. To cover my living expenses, I need to work part-time at school.
Because international students can only legally work within the university, I applied for two part-time jobs in the school cafeteria and library. My goal was clear, so I started applying for part-time positions on campus as soon as I arrived, and I'm lucky to be able to apply for these two jobs to ease my financial burden.
However, my library job hours conflicted with the statistics course I intended to take this semester. I was in a dilemma, I had to take this course this semester, but I didn't want to give up my difficult-to-come-by job.
Just as I was unsure of what to do, I learned that LightCourse could help me solve my problem.
Through LightCourse, I enrolled in a recorded ("asynchronous") online statistic class that matches the one I planned to take at my school. And since the course is recorded, I can study whenever I choose without regard to location, which is beneficial to me - I could earn the requisite credits in a much more flexible manner while keeping my part-time job.
It's worth noting that the online course is almost 2/3 less expensive than the one at my home institution, which is a great surprise for me, as I will be able to save money in the future thanks to LightCourse.
If all goes according to plan, I will graduate in 2025. I believe my academic journey will be smoother and more productive with LightCourse.

Hi, my name is Paul! I'm from Columbia, Missouri, and I'm very excited to share my LightCourse story with you!
I am a senior at the University of Missouri (MU), double majoring in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering. I decided to get a dual degree in my sophomore year because I want to be prepared for a variety of career prospects, including firmware and low-level device drivers, as well as computer architecture, software engineering, and cloud computing.
Obtaining a dual degree is hard, and I must devote all of my efforts to my studies. Last year, I was under a lot of pressure because some of my required courses were quite challenging. For example, I had to take a class about elements of mechanics of elastic materials.
However, since I had a relatively thin foundation in this field, I was hoping to find an online version of this course so that I could watch the class content multiple times to improve my understanding.
I tried to find the online course at a community college in Columbia, but I couldn't find one that worked with my timetable. When I was uncertain of what I should do, my friend recommended LightCourse to me. I contacted them, and an advisor had been assigned to me.
After assessing my needs, my advisor was very professional and promptly assisted me in finding an online course at San Diego State University (SDSU) that matched the class I wanted. It was an asynchronous (recorded) course, which suited me very well because I could repeatedly watch the professor's recordings after class.
Before class, my advisor assisted me in registering and course approval. After finishing the course, LightCourse also helped me with the credit transfer process. Now, the credits for the math class have successfully transferred to MU.
Thanks to LightCourse, I completed the course without jeopardizing my grade or study schedule. I'll be graduating this summer, and I'm thrilled to move on to the next stage.
